“What’s that Daddy?”, the 5 year old asked as she pointed at the archaic benches hanging from rusted metal ropes. “That is… or was a chairlift, honey.” said the father with a vague sigh.
The setting is any mountain in the world in the not-so-distant future as Enduro and Downhill riders take to the mountains on the BULLS E-Core EVO EN Di2 27.5. Powered by Shimano’s new 250W E-8000 eMTB motor and 375Wh X 2 (750Wh ) power pack, you’ve got the juice and the torque to conquer the climb and 180mm front (Rock Shox Lyrik) and rear (Fox Float X2 Air) suspension to smash the decent. And for the transition: a KS Lev-Integra dropper seat post. Unfailing and immediate shifting kicks in thanks to Di2 XT electronic shifting that runs off the bike’s battery. 203mm Shimano XT hydraulic disc brakes provide almost dirt-bike level stopping power.
At AlbertaEbikes, we have ridden this bike extensively at California's Northstar resort. While other downhillers waited in line for a chair lift, we rode up and hammered down by the time they were still waiting for their first lift ride up. Coming down, this bike handled everything with ease. Its balanced, loves flying in the air and lands like a downhill bike should. Dropping over rocks and logs, it just sucks up everything you throw at it. It also carves in the corners and loves going high on the berms. There is something in the balance of this bike that makes it one of the best downhill bikes we have ever ridden. We were not able to test the distance of the dual battery, but this bike went all day (less a lunch break or two), without needing any attention. Although this bike is an Enduro, it would be just as at home riding regular mountain bike trails. And of course don't forget if you just want to go for a short ride and throw this puppy around, you can shave weight by removing one of the batteries!
